Writing Challenge: July 21, 2017
Prompt: Write a story or poem that ties together two opposites.
Black and White, Light and Dark, Heat and Cold: They are not opposites but rather ends of a spectrum. One is simply the lack of the other. Ask yourself how often you see a pure form in nature? Purity in nature is rare therefore true opposition is rare if not impossible. Many philosophies and religions discuss good and evil in absolutes- but absolutes do not exist. Reality and nature are far more complex than oppositions and absolutes. Oppositions only exist in the human mind. Consider Yin and Yang: the combination of dark and light, coexisting as one with a piece one another inside; reflecting the reality of nature and life.
