Machine

Writing Challenge: Dec 10, 2017

Prompt: Think of gears, moving parts, and anything mechanical

The toothy-circles turn- gears I think they are called. As they rotate they pull along a strip of buffalo leather- called a pulley. Faster and fast the gears spin the pullies move making a hissing sound that echoes throughout the factor. This is the first machine the factory installed. The other workers on the line say that these machines will take our jobs. They never stop and never tire- unlike us. They don’t make mistakes after long hours and they can do the work of 100- unlike us. But, they also break when you drop a wooden sabot into the whirling metal and leather, unlike us.
