Midterms and RWBY

Hi Everyone!

I know my postings have become sparse of late. I’ve fallen sadly behind in my writing challenges and have been skipping out on posting on my blog. Sorry!

I’m not going to lie to you, Midterms have been crazy this year. I recently changed majors and the homework load near midterms had dramatically increased. That combined with some of the insanity at work…  I’ll be honest with you, I’ve never wanted a cigarette more- which is really saying something because I’ve never smoked.

One paper I’m actually excited to write is for my public Rhetorics class. Our Midterm is to write a rhetorical analysis of a fandom of our choice- so naturally I choose to write about RWBY by Roosterteeth. If you aren’t familiar with the show I highly recommend you watch the Red, White, Black and Yellow trailers on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=rwby+red+trailer. For my paper I’m going to focus on the show’s creator Monty Oum- his role in the show, interactions with fans, and how his unexpected death impacted the Fandom. I’ve emailed Roosterteeth to see if I could interview one of the current animators or writers to ask them about their process and how they respond to their fans. I’m hoping that I’ll hear back from them in time, but if not I will just poke around online; The best part of this assignment is that I get to delve deep into the Fandom (art, fanfics, wiki’s ect.) and call it “research”.

Anyway, I’ve got to work on some assignments. I’m still going to try to keep up with the blog, though it’s going to be on the back-burner for a little while.

Thanks for Reading!
