Prompt Inspiration: Write about your city as if it were a person.
If Provo were a person, it would be the kinky-closeted Mormon. The matching sweater, straight-laced, caffeine-free, church-going pioneer stock who drinks alcohol, pops opioids, and engages in extra-marital affairs behind closed doors. Their lawn may be green in the arid landscape, their full-size suburban may always be washed, and their children always neatly dressed- but don’t be fooled by their unnaturally wholesome appearances. Underneath all that cookie-cutter perfection there is an actual person. A beautifully flawed person, complete with vices, kinks, and secrets. You just have to take the time to get to know them, to earn their trust, and dig a little to find the grungy humanity underneath.
